Joint News Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), SMRT & Tower Transit - Enhanced Bus Accessibility for Bukit Batok

News Releases 21 Jun 2018 bus services

To cater to new housing developments in Bukit Batok West, a new bus service – Service 991 – will begin operations on Sunday, 8 July 2018, while existing feeder Service 941 will be concurrently amended.

2.  Service 991 will be implemented on an interim route plying between Bukit Batok Bus Interchange and Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 (loop) via Bukit Batok Central, Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, Bukit Batok West Avenue 6, Bukit Batok Street 11 and Bukit Batok West Avenue 8. The new service will link housing developments in Bukit Batok West to Bukit Batok Bus Interchange / MRT Station, as well as to schools such as Princess Elizabeth Primary and Millennia Institute, and amenities such as West Mall and the market and hawker centre at Bukit Batok Street 11.

3.  With Service 991 now serving Bukit Batok West Avenue 3 and Bukit Batok Street 11, Service 941 will be amended to skip these sectors and ply in both directions along Bukit Batok Avenue 1 and Bukit Batok West Avenue 8. It will also loop around Bukit Batok West Avenues 6 and 9, improving connectivity between the new housing developments in Bukit Batok West and existing Bukit Batok developments.

4.  Service 991 will be further extended to Choa Chu Kang by Q4 this year. It will incorporate the route of existing Service 308, which will cease operations after Service 991 has been fully implemented. Besides improving local connectivity, the final route of Service 991 will enhance inter-town connectivity, and provide commuters in Bukit Batok with a direct connection to Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang MRT Stations. Details of the final route of Service 991 will be announced closer to implementation.

5.  Service 991 will operate daily from 5:30am to 12am. In addition, short-working Service 991A from Bukit Batok Bus Interchange to Bukit Batok West Avenue 3 will operate daily between 12.15am and 1am. The attached annexes provide more details on the route and bus stops which the new Service 991 and amended Service 941 will be calling at.
