Factsheet: LTA-Canon Photo Exhibition: Show the Full Picture

News Releases 01 Feb 2019 Factsheet Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Canon Singapore have collaborated on a photo exhibition to showcase exciting construction works for the upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

2     Thirteen members from Canon’s very own EOS World Photography Community were recruited to take part in a series of five photo clinics where they captured LTA professionals at work as they build the TEL, Singapore’s sixth MRT line. Through the exhibition, commuters will be able to view the various stages of TEL construction, such as tunnelling works that take place 28 metres underground at Katong Park station and the construction of the paid-to-paid platform link connecting the NSL to TEL Orchard station. Commuters will also get a glimpse of the delivery and coupling of the TEL trains at Mandai Depot to prepare for train testing works.

3     Titled ‘Show the Full Picture’, the photo exhibition will showcase photographs taken at five stations along the upcoming TEL. It will be displayed at Bugis MRT station from 1 to 27 February, and will roll out progressively to selected stations over the next few months. Commuters can look forward to the photos displayed at the following stations:

Between February and April 2019

  • Bugis MRT station
  • Orchard MRT station (underpass from Exit A)
  • Bedok MRT station
  • Tampines MRT station
  • Dhoby Ghaut MRT station

Between April and May 2019

  • Bedok Reservoir MRT station
  • Paya Lebar MRT station
  • Bencoolen MRT station
  • Woodlands MRT station

More about ‘Show the Full Picture’

4     ‘Show the Full Picture’ is LTA and Canon’s second collaboration, a follow-up to 2015’s photo exhibition “Those Who Move Us” where we showcased the hard work that goes into maintaining Singapore’s public transport system.

5     Following an open call on the Canon EOS World Photography Community website (https://eosworld.canon.com.sg/) , thirteen members were selected to take part in a series of five photo clinics held at Katong Park, Mayflower, Orchard and Woodlands stations, as well as Mandai Depot on the TEL. The photo clinics were held between September and November 2018, and each photo clinic was attended by about three photographers.

6     During each photo clinic, members were given an introduction into the work scope for each location and a tour of the working site. Three Canon professional photographers were also engaged to offer photography tips to the participants, as part of the photo clinic.

7     The best photographs shortlisted from the clinics will be featured at selected MRT stations as part of the ‘Show the Full Picture’ photo exhibition. Please refer to the Annex for highlights of these photos.
