We refer to Mr Huang Lai Fa’s letter, “The frustration of renewing a vocational licence” (ZB, 28 February 2019).
Under current regulations, existing vocational licence (VL) holders who turn 65 years old are required to undergo a medical examination annually to ensure that they are physically and mentally fit to operate a public service vehicle safely.
As per our usual practice, a renewal notice letter was mailed out to Mr Huang approximately six weeks ahead of the expiry of his VL in Feb 2019, to remind him to commence renewal process should he wish to do so. As of 28 February 2019, LTA had not received Mr Huang’s medical report or renewal application and as such, the VL renewal could not be processed. We have since reached out to Mr Huang to assist him with his renewal application, and his VL has been successfully renewed.
