Second ERP Rate Review Post-Circuit Breaker

News Releases 21 Jul 2020 ERP rates

ERP rates of $1 to apply at selected CTE gantries from 27 July 2020
to manage congestion during peak periods

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed its second review of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates following the Circuit Breaker. As economic activities gradually resume, traffic volume has been increasing as more people return to workplaces and schools.

2    Based on LTA’s monitoring of traffic conditions from end June to early July 2020, traffic speeds have remained optimal on all arterial roads and most expressways, except for some time periods on the Central Expressway (CTE). As more people travel to and from their workplaces, traffic volume has begun to build up again during weekday peak hours. This has resulted in localised congestion at specific locations along the CTE during the morning and evening peak periods.

3    To manage congestion on the CTE during peak periods, ERP rates of $1.00 will apply with effect from 27 July 2020 at specific gantries on the CTE during the following time periods:

4    ERP rates at all other time periods on the CTE, as well as at all other gantries will remain at $0 until the next ERP rate review.

5    LTA will continue to monitor traffic speeds and congestion levels closely. As earlier announced, LTA will adjust the frequency of ERP rate reviews depending on the ground situation. From the next review cycle onwards, ERP rate reviews will be conducted once every five weeks. The outcome of the next ERP rate review will be announced in the fourth week of August 2020, and the appropriate ERP rates, if any, will take effect from 31 August 2020.
