Growing Public Charging Network Will Cater
to Singapore’s Electric Vehicle Population
The first batch of electric vehicle (EV) charging points under LTA’s large-scale tender, which covers nearly 2,000 HDB carparks, are now operational. These six charging points are in two public carparks located in Telok Blangah and Boon Lay, respectively operated by ChargEco[1] and Charge+.
2. By the end of this year, the Government aims to deploy 2,000 more charging points in more than 700, or one third of HDB carparks island wide. With the accelerating pace of EV adoption, we are on track to deploying at least 12,000 charging points by 2025 to help meet the charging needs of Singapore’s growing EV population. In 2022, electric car registrations formed 11.8% of all new car registrations; Singapore now has more than 6,500 registered electric cars, and close to 10,000 EVs including other vehicle classes.
Incorporation of EVe
3. To help oversee the deployment of EV charging points across public carparks, LTA has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, EV-Electric Charging Pte Ltd (“EVe”[2], pronounced as “Eve”). EVe will work closely with the five successful tenderers and government agencies to plan and manage the deployment of EV charging points. EVe will also coordinate the upgrading of supporting electrical infrastructure for EV charging.
4. Mr Khoo Teng Chye, Director, NUS Cities and Practice Professor at the College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), has been appointed Chairman of EVe’s Board of Directors. He is joined by six other Directors from public and private sectors. Please refer to the Annex for the list of EVe’s Board of Directors.
