The Land Transport Authority (LTA) had earlier lifted the requirement for motorists of foreign-registered cars and motorcycles to renew their Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) validity every 14 days during the period from 18 March 2020 to 30 September 2020. Prior to this, each VEP is only valid for 14 days and motorists have to make an application at LTA’s Sin Ming Office if they wish to extend their stay.
2 With effect from 1 October 2020, LTA will reinstate the 14-day VEP renewal requirement. This will apply to all foreign-registered cars and motorcycles, including those which have entered Singapore prior to 1 October 2020. Motorists of foreign-registered cars and motorcycles who wish to extend their stay in Singapore will be required to extend the VEP validity period for their vehicles every 14 days by paying the VEP fees. Penalties will be imposed on vehicles with expired VEPs from 15 October 2020 onwards.
3 Motorists can choose to settle their VEP fees and apply to extend their VEP validity period at the 810 AXS Stations conveniently located across Singapore. Motorists may also visit LTA’s 24-hour Autopass Card Top-Up Booths located near Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints (for VEP fees less than $500 and payment by Autopass Card only).
4 Motorists may use LTA’s online calculator at onemotoring.lta.gov.sg to calculate the total amount payable for their vehicles. Motorists are also reminded to:
a. update the validity dates of their vehicles’ road tax and motor insurance using LTA’s VEP Digital Service at onemotoring.lta.gov.sg before applying for a VEP validity extension; and
b. continue to insert their Autopass Cards into the card readers at the immigration booths at the checkpoints when driving out of Singapore, to pay the applicable tolls, Reciprocal Road Charge, ERP charges and any remaining VEP fees.
