To facilitate the construction of the Pasir Ris Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) and the Pasir Ris rail turnback[1], the existing Pasir Ris Bus Interchange has been reconfigured and will commence operations from 3 July 2021 until around 2028 when the ITH is completed.
2 The reconfigured bus interchange will comprise part of the existing Pasir Ris Bus Interchange and connect to a new section along Pasir Ris Central (Please refer to the map in the Annex). The bus interchange will continue to be managed by Go-Ahead Singapore and comes with upgraded facilities and inclusive features to enhance the overall commuter experience.
Enhanced facilities for commuters and transport workers
3 The reconfigured bus interchange will see an improvement in facilities, including more spacious boarding points at all berths and graduated kerb edges to facilitate boarding of passengers in wheelchairs and parents with strollers. There are also sheltered, barrier-free boarding and alighting facilities.
4 Other inclusive features are priority queue zones with seats, barrier-free toilets, a nursing room, as well as a family toilet with facilities for children. A commuter-care room is also set aside for commuters with special needs who may require access to a quiet and calming space. Within the bus interchange, 150 bicycle parking lots are available to facilitate transfers to public transport for cyclists.
5 In addition, staff amenities such as staff canteen and staff lounge have been upgraded. Dedicated staff toilets and a cleaners’ room have been added to provide more convenience to the workers.
6 The reconfigured bus interchange is also equipped with a reverse warning system to enhance safety by alerting bus captains through blinker lights when other buses are reversing within a parking area.
7 With features such as a green roof to naturally keep the environment cool, and energy-efficient LED lighting, the bus interchange has received the BCA Green Mark Gold Award for environmental sustainability.
Bus berth changes
8 While there will be no changes to the bus services operating from the bus interchange, commuters should take note of the new boarding and alighting berths for their respective services.
9 Posters and directional signs will be placed around the bus interchange and Pasir Ris MRT Station to guide commuters on bus berth changes. Service ambassadors will also be deployed to provide assistance.
10 Basic Military Training @ Pasir Ris, a dedicated shuttle bus facility for Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) servicemen travelling to and from the SAF Ferry Terminal, will continue to be located at the reconfigured bus interchange, with a designated waiting space for pick-up and drop-off.
11 LTA will closely monitor bus operations at the reconfigured bus interchange and make any necessary adjustments to ensure smooth journeys for commuters.
