Works for the new North South Line station to start in 2024
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced more details of the North-South Line (NSL) Brickland Station[1] (NS3A).
2 First announced as part of the Land Transport Masterplan 2040, Brickland Station will be located between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations. This will be the third MRT station to be built on an existing elevated rail line after Canberra (NSL) and Dover (East-West Line).
3 Brickland Station will help commuters in the area save up to 15 minutes in travel time towards the city centre and the commercial hub in Jurong Lake District. The station will provide better MRT connectivity to residents in Keat Hong, Bukit Batok West, Pavilion Park and Tengah town’s Brickland district, who will be within a 10-minute walk to the new station. It will also serve existing educational institutions in the vicinity, such as ITE College West, Swiss Cottage Secondary School and St. Anthony’s Primary School by providing more direct access to the rail network.
Construction of upcoming station
4 Design and construction works on Brickland Station are expected to commence in 2024 and are targeted for completion in 2034. In addition to the station, a new viaduct and crossover tracks will be constructed, to maintain connections for the existing NSL tracks while modification works are being carried out. This will minimise disruptions to train operations between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations.
