We thank Mr Pan Guang Han for his feedback on the directional signages at Promenade MRT Station (地铁站转车指示不清楚, Nov 18).
Promenade MRT station on the Circle Line differs from other MRT stations, as platform B serves Circle Line trains travelling in two directions – towards Dhoby Ghaut, and towards Marina Bay. To guide commuters, several directional signages have been put up at the platform level to indicate the train directions toward either Dhoby Ghaut or Marina Bay. The direction of travel are also numbered (10 for trains travelling to Marina Bay, and 8 for trains travelling to Dhoby Ghaut), to help commuters who may be less familiar with end-station names, including tourists.
In addition to visual signages, train directions are announced frequently over the station’s public address system and displayed on information panels showing the next train’s destination. Once onboard, the Passenger Information Displays inside the train continue to display the travel direction, ensuring commuters are informed throughout their journey.
Station staff are also available at the Circle Line platforms to assist commuters with any queries.
We will continue to review and explore ways to improve wayfinding information to better serve commuters.
