Buses regulate speed to prevent bunching

Media Replies 23 Dec 2024 bus services

We refer to Mr Mahendran Kandasamy’s letter “Buses moving too slowly” (Dec 13).

The Land Transport Authority and public bus operators regularly review bus service schedules, taking into account ground situations such as traffic conditions along a bus route to ensure safe and reliable bus operations.

Bus captains may regulate their speeds or briefly hold at bus stops when necessary to maintain separation between buses. This helps prevent buses from bunching together and arriving ahead of schedule, which could cause some commuters to miss their bus and lead to longer waiting times.
