Ongoing improvements to tactile tiles

Media Replies 22 Aug 2024 tactile tiles

We thank Mr Wang for his feedback on tactile tiles.

Since April 2024, we have started implementing an improved tactile tile layout developed in collaboration with Social Service Agencies such as the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped and Guide Dogs Association. This new design features a 300mm gap between tactile tiles, to reduce the risk of slips for pedestrians during wet conditions, while still ensuring sufficient guidance for the visually impaired. We have prioritised the new layout for tiles that require replacement and will be progressively implementing it island wide.

We are also studying an alternative tactile tile material with improved skid resistance and durability. More details of this initiative will be shared when available.
