We refer to Ms Ng Cheng Hoon’s letter (Some taxi drivers at airport prefer cash over cards; March 4).
All taxis in Singapore – except for a small number of individual-owned yellow-top taxis that do not have cashless payment terminals – are equipped to accept cashless payments such as via credit cards and/or Nets. Most taxis also accept other modes of cashless payments, including PayLah and EZ-Link.
As there is a wide range of cashless options, ground staff at the Changi Airport taxi stands will help passengers find taxis that accept their preferred payment method.
LTA will work with the National Taxi Association and taxi operators to encourage and support drivers to accept cashless payments, so that commuters can have greater certainty that cashless options are available when they take a taxi.
We thank Ms Ng for her feedback, and we will continue to work with taxi operators to enhance passenger experience at Changi Airport.
